The sales today SUCK (or have already been posted) SO...

I've been reading blogs today, as I do EVERYDAY, and I came across something that caught my attention for a good long while. This is no easy feat. I thought I should share.

Kendi Everyday started this particular remix challenge, and you can find the official rules here, but for those of us that want to think/read as little as possible because it's Friday (woohoo!), here are the cliff's notes:

1. Pick 30 items or less from your closet. Shoes and outerwear are included in the 30. Accessories, jewelry, belts, etc are free game.

2. Remix the 30 items into 30 different outfits.

3. Don't shop for 30 days.

The point of the last rule (and a valid point, it is) is to make you appreciate the clothes you already have. You'll be lusting after that skirt you've worn twice once you're aware that it isn't even an OPTION for a whole month.

As valid and useful a point that is, I will not be following. Not to a tee, anyway. I shall refrain from ANY AND ALL SHOPPING except for Black Friday and related sales. Christmas is coming up and I REFUSE to not shop during such a crazy sales free-for-all. This challenge will still, however, force me to appreciate what I've got, make me realize what I NEED, and require more creativity than I'm used to when dressing myself, though I do have to say I have evolved HEAPS since starting this blog. No more tees, jeans and flip flops to work!

So, 30 items. 30 outfits. 30 days.

I will start on Monday, so that I have the weekend to pick out the 30 items. I am also going to LITERALLY move EVERY GARMENT & SHOE I OWN (that isn't part of the 30) into the guest closet so that there is no confusion (read: cheating) as to what I'm allowed to wear.

If you would like to participate along with me, PLEASE comment with your blog/tumblr URL, I'd love to follow you and see how you remix your wardrobe!!!

I leave you with some tips from Kendi herself on how to pick the right 30 items!

:EDIT: I just check the list of remixers on the original post (ALL of them) and none of them (NOT ONE) are even CLOSE to Plus-Size. Makes this a whole lot more challenging, but a whole lot more interesting! BRING IT ON!!!! ;D

  1. Welcome to the adventure, lol. I think moving the items that you won't be using is very smart, I'm having that problem right now.

There's a couple of us plus size ladies doing the challenge, here's a list I've got going so far of all the plus size girls doing the challenge (I haven't gotten through the whole list yet):

    Me-acceptingallofme.blogspot.com
    Nicole-http://awellroundedventure.com/
    Ms. Loaf-http://moreofthisandlessofthat.blogspot.com/
Sara-http://saraisstylish.blogspot.com/ (who is not necessarily plus size but she shops from stores like avenue and such so her outfits can inspire).

  3. I love Kendi Everyday!
I've been thinking of doing one of her 30 for 30 challenges...but since we're in the middle of moving I thought I'd have to wait for the next round.
    Have fun with the challenge!
