You probably all knew this was coming, BUT...

Guys, I really don't think this shopping ban thing is going to work out for me, at least not at this time.

I haven't caved (yet), but the fact is that my birthday IS next week, and hopefully I'll be getting some funds from various sources which I will just have too hard a time not buying clothes with, ESPECIALLY since I'd only justify it with "but it's for your birthday! it's not even YOUR money (as in paychecks, technically)"...Plus...

And this is a BIG plus!

Um, hello? Black Friday falls smack in the middle of the three month ban. So, what? I'm gonna fight the urge to shop throughout my birthday month only to succumb almost 2 months into the ban? Starting the ban this month is absolutely setting myself up for disappointment.

What I CAN do is challenge myself to make the most of my closet. What better way to save money than to really make use of what I have? Remixing the garments, never repeating the same outfit...let's see how far my closet takes me. And hey, if I need a pair of shoes to go with an outfit, fine. If I'm dying for a new belt (and I AM!), no sense feeling bad over it. I'm going to shop with less abandon, and instead see if I can't surprise myself by making miracles out of what I already own.

If anyone would like to join me in this crusade, I'd love to hear about it so I can follow your progress too! We can all inspire each other to use our wardrobes in outside-the-box ways.

2 BIG Sales happening at Catherines!

The following sale is based on buying at any combination of the following stores: Cacique, Lane Bryant, Loop 18, Catherines and Fashion Bug!

The offer I got when I clicked was 30% off with code 777012030 at checkout if you shop only at Catherines.

How about I start the shopping ban on the first of October? Sound good to everyone? LOL I'm gonna go check out if I can find at least one thing I LOVE at each shop so I can get the best discount!

:EDIT: I saved $140 on almost $300 worth of stuff! I'll do a picture post later of all the different things I bought (8 items total from all 5 different shops)

I should have known...LOL

The Newport News sale was too good to pass up! I got 5 items, valued at $295 BEFORE tax and shipping, for $143 INCLUDING tax and shipping! That's over 50% off!

I bought a two tone dress, which is VERY classy and I always like to have dresses on reserve in case an event pops up, because fact is that we bigger ladies don't have the luxury of just walking into any store at the mall and finding 15 dresses we love and can walk out wearing...I also bought wide leg jeans, which I fully plan on dyeing because I HATE light denim, a cummerbund pencil skirt in dark red (idk what I'll wear it with, but it seemed too fun to pass up), leggings and a shapewear swimsuit (in the fall? YES! Buying out of season is the easiest way to save money, and I live in Miami so it's not like I won't use it all year round!)

BTW, most things at this website are also available in straight sizes, so have at it, skinny minnies!

OK...NOW let the shopping ban begin. LOL

I shopped AGAIN over the weekend!

I took advantage of the Old Navy 20% off sale and went CRAZY!

Considering that I have purchased 24 items of clothing (NOT including the two things I'm returning) in the 3 weeks I've had this blog up (LOL/eep!) I think now is a safe time to restart my shopping ban...It should be especially easy considering I should still be receiving packages for the next 2 weeks, and then I can focus on all my new clothes and remixing them into what I already own...

Don't you fret, my pets...I will still have PLENTY of sales to post, as always! Just because I can't shop for the next 3 months is no reason to deny you the privelage!

A review of my recent purchase from Kohls.com

Hello, my fellow frugalista fatshionistas! I have returned, and I bring you a review of the items that ended my shopping ban...
This is one of the work tops I purchased. LOVE! The belt is removable so it can be worn with or without it (I like it with, but it's nice to have the option)...it is very light but has that layered look that's always popular in the fall, which is great for me because I live in Miami, FL...meaning that while most of America is feeling the crisp air, seeing the leaves turn colors and enjoying temperatures of 65-70, I'm melting in humid, nasty 93 degree weather until possibly January.

One word: EW. That sums this up to a tee. I hoped it would be just gray fabric and not that weird metallic fabric (I was let down), but mostly it was the fit. The size was right (BTW, my fellow BBW, don't EVER rely on the size of a garment, always check the measurements to make sure a garment will fit, particularly if it's a place you've never shopped at before...though I always keep my measurements in mind while shopping seeing as some places :cough cough Old Navy cough: can vary several inches in the same size depending on the garment)...the problem was the FIT. The material was very clingy but because of the band at the bottom (which was my bad...I HATE tops with banded hems and I didn't realize this was one) it was just snug enough around the hips to make the rest of me look like I was wearing a sparkly garbage bag. This will DEFINITELY be going back, and luckily Kohls accepts in store returns for online purchases (unlike SOME stores...:cough cough Old Navy cough:)

Another great faux-layered top. This one is slightly sheer, so I'm going to have to be mindful about throwing it on over a pirate-print red bra (which I just did LOL). I like the material, it doesn't feel cheap, but it is definitely light enough that I won't regret it in this climate.

Overall, pretty good shopping experience online at Kohls. I might not feel the same if they didn't accept online returns in store, but that extra service redeemed them in my eyes. I'll definitely shop here again, though most likely I'll stay in the Juniors Plus department for a while.

I'll be back with more sales tomorrow, I'm still getting back in the swing of things after my vacation!

I gave in...

and bought 3 items from Kohls online. I couldn't resist! I got a couple nice work tops and one cute going-out top for $82 total, including tax (free shipping, of course)...the three items would have otherwise cost me $128 BEFORE tax and shipping! It's like I got one of the items free and clear!

I wish I could post photos of what I bought, but my work computer is always a little dodgy when it comes to photos...I'll do my best to post the photos tonight, and if not, I'll make sure to post them when the items arrive so we can do a comparison of what was delivered vs. what was promised.

I got lucky with those items because as far as I can tell, the online selection of plus size clothes is a bit scant. The womans plus size department (online, at least) is very, well, matronly. Not at all the kind of clothes I'd wear, not even to work. I got lucky in the Juniors Plus department, where I scored all my swag and managed to find stuff that was modest enough for work but still stylish and funky enough to not be well...gross.

So, there you have it. I've just had my first Kohls shopping experience. Feel free to tell me about yours, particularly if it's today as well!

Kohls - 15% off!

Seriously SERIOUSLY contemplating re-doing the shopping ban at a later date and partaking in all these deals!

TODAY ONLY!
15% off Plus-Sized clothes at Kohls, online only!

ALSO...
I've never shopped at Kohls, online or otherwise, so I don't know what their selection is like, but as previously stated, I'd love to hear from anyone that takes advantage of this deal so I can share your experience! :)

:EDIT: They seem to have a section of Halloween Costumes, so if you're in the market for one, this might be the time to jump on it!
