My absolute FAVORITE time to shop at Torrid! Thankfully they have a sale like this at least every 4-6 weeks, by my observation...
I bought:
Adorable, right? I know. ;)
So, guess how much all this originally retailed for? $162, before tax or shipping.
Guess how much I paid.
Go on, guess.
$61.58, INCLUDING tax and shipping.
Yep. I saved over $100
:takes a bow:
I heart sales.

New this week: Style 369
With a size offering of a UK 14 - UK 26 (US 10 - US 22), Style369.com is the curvy girls answer to TopShop - with edgy pieces like rompers and jumpsuits outfitted in tie-dyed fabrics and draped cuts, the website fills in the gap that the youth market has been craving. The styling on the website can also be a source of inspiration for curvy women, drawing directly from street style and the runways- proving that curvy girls, too, can achieve the latest trends.
Source: Vogue Italia
I'd love to get to shopping, but there stuff is a bit pricey ($55 US for a tunic? Not in my budget, thanks) so I'll wait til I hear about a sale (which you KNOW I'll be posting about here whenever it DOES happen!)

Petition to encourage Target to make more plus size clothes!
From Styleitonline.com:
Have you ever walked into Target and browsed through the designer collaborations? Do you remember the excitement of being able to take home pieces from Jean Paul Gaultier, Zac Posen, and Erin Fetherston because you could actually afford to own a piece created by these fashion industry talents? Only some of you reading this post can say "yes", and only because these collaborations were produced in your size. Why has Target not collaborated with a designer for an exclusive plus size collection, or better yet, extended their current collaborations into larger sizes?
Please join Patrice from Afrobella, Marie Denee from The Curvy Fashionista and I in our public plea to Target to embrace the plus size community (already a current customer) with their designer collaborations. We've created an online petition to gather signatures of potential customers and supporters, so that Target can take notice and understand that there is a viable customer base for these pieces.
To: Target Corporation
Dear Target, Each season, you skillfully and beautifully execute exclusive designer collaborations and partnerships with leading fashion designers. As plus size women, we are oft neglected, overlooked and always sized out of your collections.
Why?
We have money to spend as much as our straight sized sisters do. We love to look just as fabulous as the other Fashionistas, yet you neglect to even think of us in the equation. We fawn over the Zac Posen for Target, and strategically finagle through the cuts that could pass on our curves; salaciously we look as each fantastic and highly coveted collaboration passes us along- due to you ignoring our thirst and hunger for fashion.
Why?
Therefore, I, Marie Denee of The Curvy Fashionista, Patrice of Afrobella, and Sarah of Style It Online have come together with our followers and the fa(t)shionistas within the plus size community to request, demand, and call for an inclusion of and/or special designer collaborations for the plus size fa(t)shionistas.
Sincerely, The Undersigned
I'm signature 1324! Please sign!

I should have known...LOL
The Newport News sale was too good to pass up! I got 5 items, valued at $295 BEFORE tax and shipping, for $143 INCLUDING tax and shipping! That's over 50% off!
I bought a two tone dress, which is VERY classy and I always like to have dresses on reserve in case an event pops up, because fact is that we bigger ladies don't have the luxury of just walking into any store at the mall and finding 15 dresses we love and can walk out wearing...I also bought wide leg jeans, which I fully plan on dyeing because I HATE light denim, a cummerbund pencil skirt in dark red (idk what I'll wear it with, but it seemed too fun to pass up), leggings and a shapewear swimsuit (in the fall? YES! Buying out of season is the easiest way to save money, and I live in Miami so it's not like I won't use it all year round!)
BTW, most things at this website are also available in straight sizes, so have at it, skinny minnies!
OK...NOW let the shopping ban begin. LOL

Newport News - 30% Off!
Check out this sale at Newport News! Their clothes is a little "older" looking, but they have some REALLY nice dresses!
AND...there's also THIS!
AND...there's also THIS!
Torrid is offering incentives for buying your Halloween costume from them!
I actually already bought mine...I have 2 actually, because I always buy my halloween costumes immediately after halloween for the FOLLOWING year (I TOLD you I was frugal! LOL) and I need at least 2 because I like having options til the very last moment...But for those of you that are a bit more RATIONAL...
So, what's everyone dressing up as this year?
So, what's everyone dressing up as this year?
I shopped AGAIN over the weekend!
I took advantage of the Old Navy 20% off sale and went CRAZY!
Considering that I have purchased 24 items of clothing (NOT including the two things I'm returning) in the 3 weeks I've had this blog up (LOL/eep!) I think now is a safe time to restart my shopping ban...It should be especially easy considering I should still be receiving packages for the next 2 weeks, and then I can focus on all my new clothes and remixing them into what I already own...
Don't you fret, my pets...I will still have PLENTY of sales to post, as always! Just because I can't shop for the next 3 months is no reason to deny you the privelage!

OOTD 9-24-10
Top: Kohls, $24 plus 15% off...it's a little long (ok, VERY long), so next time I'll wear it with something that I can tuck it into.
Jeans: Walmart, $18
Shoes: Payless, $22
In other news, I need a haircut. I've been cutting my own hair for about 2.5 years, but I have no experience in that department other than (luckily) evenly cutting 5-9 inches at a time off my head when my usually mid-back to butt length hair gets unmanageable. Any hair experts want to recommend a low maintenance yet flattering style for me? Photos would be a bonus, and if you can recommend someone in Miami, FL, I'll love you forever.

Speigel - CRAZY sales!

OOTD 9-23-10
Forgive the posing, lighting and overall mess...I just went ahead and snapped this really quickly just to have a photo for today.
I may or may not do this everyday (chances are I will do it 1-3 times a week), but I figure if I'm spending so much time telling you about clothes I'm wanting and eventually buying, you should see what I end up doing with it once it's in my clutches.
*Sunglasses: Bass Pro (you can find cute stuff ANYWHERE if you really look!), $20
*Top: Old Navy, from a million years ago, so I'm assuming about $20
*Skirt: from this Old Navy haul, $29.50...it's really big on me, even though I bought a size down, because Old Navy is NOTORIOUS for having crazy variation even within the same size. The fact that it's an elastic waist makes it even bigger because I can't really cinch it...I really like the pattern though, so I'll make it work.
*Shoes: Torrid, also really old (and only ever worn twice, they're REALLY uncomfortable), I'm guessing $25 because I wouldn't have paid more for them.
SO yeah...I didn't put a whole lot of thought into the outfit, and even less thought into the photo, but I promise they'll get better now that I'm giving myself the job of doing this!

don't mind my cat, Brady...he was having dinner under the table. |

TOLD you I've been shopping too much!
So, yeah. I've been shopping. Again.
I bought myself these 2 pairs of black trousers because, well...I don't have black trousers. Really. I don't. Usually if I wear pants to work, it's either a pair of really dark jeans (though only on Fridays...it's not a rule or anything, it just seems right), or this one pair of green trousers I have, and they're kind of a pea soup green, so there's only so many tops that look right with them.
That's not even the best part, though.
Remember when I first announced the Beth Ditto collection at Evans? And remember how I was lusting after that floral dress? WELL I GOT IT!
LOVE!!!!
And I had a discount code for that saved me £9 (about $15), so I paid £70 (about $112) for all three items, including shipping overseas!
I really hope everything fits, because I've never shopped at Evans before, but I've heard that their return process is a nightmare...wish me luck!

OOTD?
I wonder, should I start posting outfits here? As in, myself in outfits I've put together? I see a lot of fashion blogs have this approach, and I can see how it would help me fill the blog with more varied content than just discount codes and rants about item returns...but what do YOU think?
Would you WANT to see that in the blog? Or should I stick to the current formula? It wouldn't be replacing anything else I post, just supplementing or adding to it.
Comment, plz! You're the ones reading, so I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I've been shopping WAY too much!
Floral Trim Tunic $22.80 |
Grommet Trimmed Dress $27.80 |
Button Draped Tunic $17.80 |
Woven Cap Slv Dress $24.80 |
Electric Stripe Top $22.80 |
My latest purchase from Faith 21...which is the plus size department of Forever 21.
I've only shopped here once before, and I loved both tops I purchased! One of those tops was supposed to be a a dress, but one thing I've heard (and witnessed that one time) is that their dresses are REMARKABLY short and not for the modest! That being said, I also bought a couple pairs of leggings and dug up my tights from We Love Colors in preparation for these tunics and "dresses".
I'm pretty sure that if I'll be disappointed with anything, it'll be the Woven Cap Sleeve Dress, just because I have pretty crap luck with thick empire waist bands making dresses look more maternity than plus size...I usually love empire waist dresses/tunics and I own a fair amount of items with that silhouette, but it all depends on the material of the garment. We shall see!

Oh, Alloy...
So, a couple of weeks ago, I ordered a single, solitary top from Alloy.com...
I have a mild obsession with Batman, and a not-so-mild obsession with raglan tops, so imagine my excitement when I saw they had THIS in my size!
Now, imagine my disappointment when I open my Alloy package, open the inner pouch labeled "Batman Top", and find...A PLAIN BLACK TEE WITH A BANDED HEM! You know I HATE banded hems!!!! ARG!!!!!!
So, yeah. I'm going to have to return it. Sucks. The good thing is that Alloy has prepaid return labels in the packages, so I SHOULD be able to just re-tape the bag it came in and send it back. I'll do that tonight, send it tomorrow, and keep you guys posted on the service I get from Alloy, which will determine whether or not I keep shopping there.

To thrift, or not to thrift?
For now, at least...NOT.To be fair, I don't think I really gave thrifting a fair chance. When I walked into the store, it was PACKED! Buzzing with people milling all over the store looking at clothes, furniture and mismatched china. The fact that the store itself was cluttered, plus that it was full of people made me uncomfortable (I MUCH prefer organization, maybe online shopping has spoiled me)...
For sure, if you want to find a wedding dress, this is the place to be, apparently.
Probably the most interesting thing I saw there, besides the pair of ski boots...
the most stylish bag in the whole place, just so you get an idea of the offerings...
So, like I said, it was packed because (I'm assuming) they were closing for renovations that week, so I didn't spend as much time combing through the racks as I could have. Actually, I was in and out of the store in a matter of 10 minutes. Perhaps if all the people hadn't gotten me so flustered, I might have found something grand. So for right now, thrifting is not my thing, and kudos to all you fatshionistas that can find gems amidst the chaos...maybe I'll give it a try at a later date.

uh oh, guess what I just did!
I SHOPPED! lol
I just had my first online shopping experience at ASOS, a UK based store that sells both straight size clothes and plus size in the form of their brand, ASOS Curve.
I checked out the ASOS Curve clearance section, clicked on the top right corner of the page to change the currency from pounds to dollars, and away I went!
I have a thing lately for career clothes (I guess because I spend most of my time at the office!) so I've been focusing on building my work wardrobe. Check out my finds! It seems I scooped up the very last dress (sorry!), you know I'm a sucker for dresses and considering I have over 2 dozen in my closet right now, I don't have an LBD! Til now, that is...bua ha ha! Actually, I'm trying not to get my hopes up on this one, because they only had it in a size smaller than what I usually wear, so we'll see how it goes... ($30.33)
This top is a little immodest for work, but as soon as I saw this baby pink tunic, it screamed "BIRTHDAY!" to me...and since my 25th is approaching (fast), I thought, "why not?" ($18.54)
The last item I got was a black pencil skirt, it's a little shorter than I like, but then again I'm shorter than most so maybe that will even it out. I don't have enough skirts in my life, at least not ones that aren't plaid and punk, so this was necessary! ($11.80, a SUPER STEAL!)
The best part is that I selected Standard Delivery, meaning that my package will get here from the UK in less than 2 weeks, so shipping was free. If I had upgraded to ensure my package would arrive in less than a week, it would have only been an extra $12! I'm just in no rush, since my birthday is in 3 weeks ;)
